First Woodway’s Youth Ministry desires to be a place of community and discipleship for students in 6th – 12th grades. From weekly connections, like PrimeTimes and Wednesday Night Live, to exciting events, like Chi Alpha and Sondays Camp, students are given opportunities to grow deeper in the faith and in Christian friendships.

FEATURED EVENTS

Here’s what is coming up for First Woodway Youth Ministry:

Friday, November 20
6:30-10:30pm
For all students grades 6-12th
We love that God has created us uniquely as men and women of God! However, in today’s world that comes with some confusion and unique challenges. On Friday November 20th, we want to spend the evening as dudes and girls diving into God’s good design and intentions for who we are! Dudes will do dude stuff like play dodgeball, wrestle bears (not really), and dive into what it means to be a man of God. Girls will do girl stuff like making crafts, laughing together, and diving into what it means to be a woman of God! We’re so excited! Join us for an awesome night!

CONNECT with a core group. GROW through discipleship. SERVE as Christ teaches. Here at First Woodway, we take discipleship ministry very seriously. In our 7:37 Discipleship Groups, students meet with a group of peers…his or her age and his or her gender. Each group has two college leaders that help them to grow in Christian faith and practice. Come and be a part of the spiritual backbone of our entire ministry. It is your chance to mature into a faith that you can use. It all takes place each Sunday at 7:37 pm in The MAC room A200 on our campus. From there we break off into our small groups.

Every year we invite any and all of our juniors and seniors to join us in the leadership of our ministry through our SLT (Student Leadership Team). Ministry is only effective if the students get involved and claim it as their own. We invite students to serve on a few different focus groups according to their interests. Groups typically meet one Sunday a month to talk over ideas and important events. Areas of involvement include:

  • Programs Team
  • Skit Team
  • Spiritual Formation Team

If you are a junior or senior in high school, you are welcome to join Student Leadership. Below is our meeting schedule for Fall 2026:

  • Saturday, Aug 22 | Kick-Off Meeting, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
  • Sunday, Sep 13 | Monthly Meeting after church
  • Sunday, Oct 4 | Monthly Meeting after church
  • Sunday, Nov 1 | Monthly Meeting after church
  • Sunday, Dec 6 | Monthly Meeting after church

*All meetings are held in The Venue. For our monthly meetings, we will meet up for lunch after church ends. We’ll determine the restaurant in the SLT GroupMe.

MEET THE YOUTH STAFF

CHASE WOMMACK
CHASE WOMMACKYouth Minister: High School

Chase grew up at First Woodway and this ministry! After his time in FWYM, Chase went on to pursue a degree in Business Administration from Baylor University where God called him into ministry as his vocation (maybe that business degree will come in handy someday). From there it’s been a wild journey of time in England as a missionary then beginning seminary at Truett before moving to Fort Worth where he spent 5.5 years as a full time youth pastor and married the love of his life the amazing Kate! Kate and Chase now have a son named Baker who is the joy of their lives but keeps them on their toes for sure! Chase is passionate about High School Ministry, all things sports, music, reading (always open to recommendations), and loves a good coffee shop!

MEREDITH MORTON
MEREDITH MORTONYouth Minister: Middle School

In middle school, Meredith was invited to First Woodway Youth Ministry on a Wednesday night, and since that time, she has called this place home. After graduating, she went off to the mountains to attend the University of Arkansas, where she earned a degree in International Relations. Following college, she completed a year-long Bible intensive program called the Kanakuk Institute before earning her Master of Divinity from Truett Seminary. She has been on our youth staff since 2016 and took over the Middle School Ministry in 2020. She is passionate about the opportunity to work with middle schoolers and loves what she does!

She has a wonderful family that includes her overly humorous husband, Tom, who keeps everyone laughing. They have a precious son, Shepherd, born in July 2025, and a cute pup named Benny, who is from “the streets.” She claims she used to be a pretty good athlete back in the day, but now she enjoys spending slow, intentional time with family and friends.

TERRI JONES
TERRI JONESAssistant, Youth + College

Terri came on board in this important position in 2013. She keeps all of this madness so very well organized, and we love her for it. Terri comes from Sweetwater, where she hung out at the Dairy Queen on weekends. After graduating from Angelo State University, she chose to move to Dallas, where she met her future husband, David.

Her children, Allison and Sam, are both graduates of Texas A&M. Sam is married to the love of his life, Ashley, and all three of them live in the beautiful Teton Valley region of Idaho, where they work and enjoy the outdoors. To pass the time between visits with her beloved children, Terri enjoys traveling, reading, gardening, and baking. Everyone loves Terri—especially for her pies, which she’s becoming quite famous for.
