God has also called us to serve others including those within our church family. From serving in the classrooms with the Children’s Ministry to welcoming others through the church doors, there are a variety of ways for you to serve others here at First Woodway. We also believe in serving others in the community; visit our Missions page to learn more about how you can serve though local outreach.

Volunteers in this ministry can visit those who are homebound, in local nursing homes, or in local hospitals. They also assist with Bible studies and worship experiences both on and off campus in local retirement centers and nursing homes. No matter your age, if you desire to serve our homebound and or our senior adult residents, we have a place for you.

This ministry involves collecting and distributing food to people who contact the church in need. Volunteers spend time with families in need, share the love of Jesus, and provide for their needs through the church’s food pantry. You can be involved by donating items or volunteering your time.

Helping Hands ministers to those with disabilities (babies through adulthood) and their families. More than 40 members are either partnered with a buddy so they can attend regular Sunday School classes or are taught in their own special classes. Our volunteer base is primarily made up of church members—high school age through senior adults. Please consider joining us twice per month (or more if you’d like) for an hour to work with these precious children, teens, and adults.

Discipleship Class Leaders
Every semester we provide a number of discipleship classes to congregants and the wider community. Leaders either teach or facilitate discussion in these settings. We are always interested in finding new leaders!

Group Leaders
Group leaders serve on teams that oversee group life at First Woodway. Most groups meet on Sunday mornings, and a few groups meet in homes throughout the week. Let us know if you are interested in serving as a teacher or fellowship coordinator in this area!

Worship Choir
The First Woodway Choir is a group that embraces the truth that true worship is a lifestyle. If you have a passion for the Lord and for worship, the Woodway Worship Choir is the place for you. The Choir sets the pace for our church family as they lead out in worship each week. We are looking for everyone who has a heart for worship to join us. Choir rehearsals are an exciting time with moments of fun and laughter, as well as precious times of worship and prayer. It’s more than just learning new music, it’s sharing and getting to know a wonderful group of believers who have a common ministry and goal–to lift up the Name of Jesus to the glory of God the Father. Rehearsals take place each Wednesday night from 6:30 pm until 7:30 pm. Come check us out and see if the Woodway Worship Choir is the place you feel led to join in ministry.

Orchestra
We are looking for experienced players who want to use their gifts to worship the Lord through the First Woodway Orchestra. The orchestra plays 8-10 times per semester, averaging every other Sunday. Orchestra members rehearse on the Sunday mornings they play. Then they play as part of the worship services. The orchestra also plays for special events throughout the year, including Christmas, Easter, and special worship events. The orchestra schedule is published at the start of each semester. If you’re interested, please reach out and let us know.

Worship Band
The worship band is a rotating, auditioned group consisting of keyboard (synth), electric and acoustic guitars, bass, drums, and auxiliary percussion (shaker, cajon, conga drums, sus cymbal, chimes, etc.). They are the foundation of all we do in the Worship Ministry. Both Youth and College also have worship bands in their respective ministries.

Praise Team
The First Woodway Praise Team is a group of talented singers with a heart for worship. They are an auditioned group that rotates in helping to lead worship on Sunday mornings.

MAC Groups
One of the best ways to serve at the MAC is to join one of our recreational groups/activities! We encourage you to connect with a neighbor or co-worker by inviting them out to pickleball at The MAC or The Fields, for a run with the 84Runners Club, a hike with the Narrow Road Hiking Club, and more!

Woodway Kids Sunday School
Teacher/Helper | 9:30 am | Infants – Fifth Grade
Teachers and helpers with infants through pre-k teach basic Bible truths while providing a loving, nurturing, and safe environment. The children are taught through crafts, games, play time, Bible stories, and song. Our teachers and helpers in kindergarten through 2nd grade guide children as they begin to learn more about what it means to have a relationship with Jesus. These children enjoy learning through Bible stories, games, and activities. Teachers and helpers in 3rd-5th grade help guide the students to worship God in ALL that they do. With this age group, the opportunities abound to challenge the students to apply God’s truths to their lives. Exciting Bible stories and great discussion greet all who come.

Woodway Kids Sunday School Plus
Teacher/Helper | 11:00 am | Infants – Pre-K
Teachers and helpers with infants through pre-k teach basic Bible truths while providing a loving, nurturing, and safe environment. The children are taught through crafts, games, play time, Bible stories, and song.

FUSE
Teacher/Helper | 11:00 am | Kindergarten – Third Grade
Each week in FUSE, we desire to see our children learn more about God and His work in their lives. We also want our children to learn how we are all joined together in Christ. We do this each Sunday in the MAC with rotations of games, snacks, activities, and teaching. FUSE provides a wonderful opportunity for leaders and children to build relationships with each other.

ROOTED
Teacher/Helper | 11:00 am | Fourth + Fifth Grade
ROOTED is discipleship. We want our students’ lives to be ROOTED in our wonderful Father. We want them to be strengthened in their faith. We want them to know, without any doubt, that they belong to God. Each week in ROOTED, we dive deep into Bible study and discussion, with teaching topics that are relevant to this age: “How to Have an Unshakeable Faith,” “Taking Ownership of Your Relationship with Jesus,” “How to Navigate the World of Friendships,” “Counter Culture,” “Unmasked: Removing the “mask” that hides your true identify,” and so much more!

Floor Coordinators
9:30 + 11:00 am | Infants – Fifth Grade
Floor Coordinators assist the teachers and volunteers in the classrooms. They not only help teachers find resources in the workroom, but they also assist the Children’s Associate with other Sunday morning duties. Floor Coordinators help ensure the safety of our children by monitoring the hallways and making sure security doors are closed and locked.

Welcome Team + Greeters
9:30 + 11:00 am
We need YOU to help us be ready! Our Welcome Team & Greeters smile, guide, and direct families to their children’s classes. We want our guests to know their children will be safe, secure, happy, and in a class designed specifically for them.

Prayer Team
Join the Children’s Ministry staff at 8:45 am each Sunday for prayer.

Chi Alpha Host Homes
Every January, we need families who will host small groups of our students for a special discipleship weekend that continues to change lives.

WOODWAY TEAMS

Contact | Scott Dixon

The task of hosting visitors and members well is incredibly important, and we need help in order to do this with excellence! We are looking for smiling faces to add to our great team of volunteers to help serve in this vital ministry.

Golf Cart Team
We have a big parking lot and lots of traffic in it, so we offer safe and convenient rides to our church family.

Red Wagon Team
If you have a heart for kids and love to bring smiles to their faces when they come to Sunday School, then join our Red Wagon Team. They chauffeur our kids to the Children’s Ministry prior to the 9:30 am service on Sundays. Our children love the rides and get excited about coming to church!

Woodway Kids Greeters
Once families enter the building, we want to make sure that they feel welcomed and taken care of. We help our guests get checked into our system and help them find classrooms for their little ones.

Greeter Team
This team stands around various locations to ensure that everyone who walks into our building is greeted with a smile, a handshake, and a statement that says, “No matter who you are or how your morning has gone, we are so glad you are here!”

Welcome Desk
This team acts as information central. If guests and/or members have questions like, “Which class is a good fit for me?”, “Where do kids go for their classes?”, “What times are the worship services?” or any number of other questions, this team is ready to help.

Guides
After the Welcome Desk Team directs guests/members to where they need to go, this team helps get them there.

The best kind of storytelling includes visual storytelling, and few things communicate better than a good photo. If you are a talented photographer and would like to help us capture the life and heart of the First Woodway family, we’d love to hear from you.

We’re building a volunteer social media team made up of creative people who enjoy storytelling through photos, video, and short-form content. As a member of this team, you’ll help us share what God is doing in and through our church. You don’t have to be a pro – just someone who has a gift for iPhone photography, filming, editing reels, or creating engaging social content. And you don’t have to do it all! Whether your passion is behind the camera or behind the edit, we have a place for you. Team members will serve once or twice a month and can choose from upcoming projects and events. If you’d like to be part of this team, get in touch with Melody Carson. We’d love to help you use your creativity to serve.
